I have bootable clones of my old Lion install before I upgraded, but sometimes I only need to run a single application and rebooting from another disk is a pain, so I would like to be able to fire up an instance of Lion as a virtual machine.

But the OS X VM creation doesn't work now. I have a few issues with Mountain Lion that mean I need to have occasional access to a Lion installation. I have been previously able to create an OS X Mountain Lion Guest and I have run out of ideas as to what could be causing this.Īs a side note I am able to create VMs for Windows and Linux just fine.

After booting, stop at the Migration step. You can simulate your old Mac on OS X Snow Leopard Server or plain old Mountain Lion in a VM. That only works for Windows in Boot Camp. Every time I try it starts up the VM, shows the gray Apple logo with the spinning wheel, the spinning wheel stops and then closes the VM. There is no current way to create an OS X Virtual Machine from an existing OS X Physical Machine. I am unable to create a new OS X Mountain Lion Guest within Parallels Desktop.
